The First Mistake is a wonderfully twisty ride of a book. Just when you think you have it all figured out, you realize you don’t have a clue. I was more of an Alice fan than a Beth fan. Alice at least questioned her life occasionally. Beth was totally besotted and foolish. But both were way too trusting in their love affairs and callous with their finances. I honestly wanted to scream at them. Or put the book down. But The First Mistake was extremely addictive and very difficult to put down. In some ways I feel the ending was an overly generous manner of extinguishing the villain. A prolonged torture would have been more to my liking. Overall a great read and perfect for the beach this summer.
