Opening with a mother struggling to get her children out the door and to school in the morning definitely helped me relate to Alice. My only complaint is that the book jumped around a lot. It didn't give too much detail about who any of the characters were, other than why Alice hired Lottie, and that Alice's first was gone.

There wasn't a lot of backstory about who Alice was meeting and why she was dressed so nicely, other than she had a past with this man. I definitely want to read the entire book, but I hope that some of the situations and characters are explained with a little more information. Going from one situation into another is confusing as a reader, and I'm having a hard time keeping everyone straight.
