A second marriage with two children in tow, Alice and Nathan work together to increase the design business started by Alice and her first husband who passed away. (No details of his death in the introduction.). Everything seems to be flowing well, especially with novice Lottie is improving daily and has the insight for design like Alice. But there's something mysterious about Lottie. She was shy and not confident of her ability during her interview but in six months, she's being a great designer. In the back of her mind, Alice remembers Lottie's words during her interview concerning where Lottie can see herself in ten years- "in Alice's chair." Trying to make light of the statement and be appreciative of the work Lottie is doing, there is still something that seems to be nagging Alice about Lottie. Along with the pressure of raising two children, a teenage girl with an "attitude" and just finding out her eight year old daughter has been having some issues with other girls on the playground, I think Alice's world as she knows it is about to turn upside down!
