My first impression from the cover drew me right in. Without reading the synopsis, the cover embodied the feeling of a shattered moment. Maybe the flowers were from a partner, a friend, or a lover? And now we see them scattered, a promise-filled moment reduced to wreckage.
From the first chapter on, I felt like the tension in this book was palpable! I love when a novel builds suspense through a vague feeling of uneasiness, rather than outright shocking actions. Alice seems like a woman with a complicated life, and I already can count four characters in the first three chapters I want to know more about! Something is not quite right in Alice's life, and I can't wait to find out what it is...
