As I read I could feel Alice's anxiety ramp up as she tries to juggle her personal life, her professional life and the problems of her daughters who are experiencing prepubescent and adolescent angst. As a reader I'm wondering what's going on with the younger daughter. We get a hint of this when her "friend" Phoebe predicts dire consequences for Nathan. So what happened to Thomas? All great questions thrown right out there in the very beginning so readers will want the answers. I want to read the rest of it. Great characterization and plotting!!
