Ever since FANGIRL came out, I've been yearning for another YA book about the annals of fandom life, and this book is it! Our reader surrogate this time around is Nick, who writes RPF fanfic for a superhero he adores, and I absolutely cannot wait to see how his life changes once his fanboy life and IRL life clashes.
I honestly really appreciated how it started off: the excerpt looked like it came right out of a fic posted on Archive of our Own, complete with tags and everything. Reading the comments that came after the fic made me smile, because they're exactly like the real thing, and know that the writer either did their research or is completely aware of how that works makes me wanna read the entire book even more.
