Guys. Guys! You got to read this! Why? I’m so glad you asked! The story is about what it takes to be and what defines a hero. It doesn’t hurt that this book is chocked full of teenage pining and a badass group of friends.

The main character is Nick who is, in one word, endearing. He’s enthusiastic, exuberant and loves to throw himself into whatever he is focused on much to the consternation of his family and friends. The hijinks that he gets into is hilarious (and sometimes quite smelly). His friends are indulgent of Nick’s many many plans. They are the type of friends everyone wishes they had in high school- endlessly supportive and even more protective. But what I enjoyed most is the relationship Nick had with his dad. They don’t always see eye-to-eye or agree about everything but their relationship is honest and true. TJ Klune has a special knack for capturing the relationship between parents and their kids and making it tangible to the reader.

The superheroes in this story are fun but Tj presents it in a realistic way- beyond all the razzle-dazzle and sequins. While the heroes are glorified (mostly by Nick it seems) they are not imperfect. He shows us how having vigilantes affects the police and who exactly has to pay for any damages.

*crossing my fingers* I think this book might a start to a series. At least this girl can hope! I definitely recommended this book to everyone. Do yourself a flavor and pick it up!

I received this arc in exchange for an honest review.
