I'll be honest, I am a sucker for books like this! Such a great young adult book. It feels as though the author is speaking to a friend in introducing the book and the rest of the novel doesn't feel any different. I love books that take on narratives of those who seldom have their stories shared and, similarly to The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime, this novel champions a young man with mental illness. The writing style is straightforward and easy to read, yet not immature (sometimes a challenging balance for a young adult book to achieve). The dialogue seems realistic and is used wonderfully to develop the characters. The book cover is eye catching and colorful (a staple in the YA genre) and captures the feel of the book well.
