TJ Klune has done it again. He has written another queer story we could only have hoped to see so many years ago. There is something masterful about Klune's story telling that I've always struggled to put into words. I'm a huge fan of the works he is creating for this younger audience. It helps that he is my favorite author, of course, but even setting that aside I can see what makes this book great.

I think one of the most gratifying parts of The Extraordinaries is how uniquely well TJ Klune is able to tie the social media and culture of today into his books. I see many authors try and fail to incorporate tumblr, twitter, instagram, and other platforms in their stories. It often shines through how little they understand or use these websites. Not Klune. He was able to use these websites in the stories in an authentic manner.

I felt the plot of the book was also unique. It wasn't just about an awkward fan or a nobody who becomes a hero. It was incredibly romantic, well-written, and different in all the ways that matter. The Extraordinaries is about a fanboy who discovers that the heroes he writes fiction for might be more like him than he could have ever dreamed.

I'm so thankful to have received this ARC and would recommend the book to anyone.
