I’m ready for the whole book now please!

So, immediately was confused thinking this was some kind of weird file corruption or a fanfic with fanfic quality writing (not exactly my cup of tea) when it ends up being about the fanfic writer, teenager Nick Bell, who is super gay for Extraordinary (ie, superhero) Shadow Star and writes a slash fanfic about it. This first peak into his life—including what could possibly be described as the greatest coming out dad moment in the history of greatest coming out dad moments—has led me to believe that this book will be particularly awesome in addition to poignant and charming. Of course we have traditional ya situations, eg. protagonist’s dead mom, chance encounters with superhero seems inevitable, etc, that could potentially make this book cliche or trite but I think it will be a solid hit. The dad is funny. Their dynamic is great. The fanfic is campy and hilarious in it’s ridiculousness. So far everything looks primed for a great read. I want more.
