As soon as I read the synopsis I was sold. A coming of age novel with a relatable fanboy and superheroes?! The Fangirl and Renegades comparison is so spot on and I couldn't be happier about it. I loved the inclusion of the main character, Nick Bell's, fanfiction. It is such a small detail but the accuracy of the fanfictions format with tags and comments was so cool. Also, Nick's relationship with his dad is very enjoyable and creates a good dynamic.
I know what they say about judging books by their covers but so far it's proving to be going well. The color scheme is gorgeous and the light blue shade of the boys really makes them pop. The cover is simple but still gives off the feel of the book.
Reading this excerpt made me just that more excited to read this book. It is off to a great start and I can't wait to see how it goes (and for the introduction of possible love interest Seth Gray)!
