The fanfiction start to the chapter was really cute. We really got a sense of how much Nick loves Shadow Star, the superhero of this universe, by writing fanfic about Shadow Star falling for an "original character, Nate." It was just a really neat way of understanding Nick as a person.
Other than that, the book is kind of generic? Dead mom, basic hero/villain/female reporter thing going on, with little deviation from the standard beats, although Nick does hate the female reporter with a passion, which felt odd to read.
