I really liked the beginning of the book. The fanfiction intro was a good way to set the tone for the book, especially once it became clear that Nick is just writing a self-insert. The first chapter also set a good tone for the book and gave enough exposition that I wasn’t lost, but also didn’t overwhelm me with info.
