I read a lot (an embarrassing amount, really) of fanfic, and right off the bat, that "author's note" about computer problems and busy summers and writer's block is exactly like every author's note on every fanfic in the history of the world. If the first couple of sentences can have me laughing so much, I can't wait to get my hands on the rest of it.
