The End of the Ocean is one of those books I loved lingering over, letting it seep deeply into my psyche. Not many books grab me and shake me to my core. This one did. Even now, hours after finishing my read, it is foremost in my thoughts. I highly suggest this book - it will help you see our world and its current challenges with climate change through new eyes.

The story is told is two alternating first person points of view - Signe's and David's. It is also told in two alternating timelines - Signe's in 2017, and David's in 2041. Interestingly, Signe's is told in present tense, while David's is told in the past tense. The result of this telling is to make them feel as if they are both happening at the same time.

The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was the writing itself. While it suits the voice of the story, I found following some of the run-on sentences & sentence fragments a bit challenging. This is most likely due to the fact that English is not the author's first language and the work has been translated. Once I got used to the style, I was fine, but it did give me momentary pause.
