I enjoyed the book as a whole and it reminded me of The Road in some ways, but overall something about the writing style made it feel a little too slow or dragged out. It didn’t necessarily need a faster paced plot, but I think perhaps exploring the characters in more depth/dimensions would have provided more substance within the story. The general plot and story was interesting and especially appropriate for modern times but I wouldn’t say it was particularly unique, within the realm of dystopian or post-apocalyptic literature. All of the characters were interesting to read about, and I enjoyed the jumps between time periods that let readers see how the world came to such a situation in the first place.
