Signe is a 67 year old environmental activist who has lived a mostly solitary life on her boat, Blue. When she learns that her former partner is invested in a project that harvest ice from the glacier near her childhood home she can’t help but try to disrupt the operation.
David and his daughter Lou are refugees from southern France who are forced to flee in a drought stricken world when their home is ravaged by fire.
The storylines parallel each other in interesting ways and I was invested in the outcome of each. Themes of survival, human nature and a found family are also present. This book was compelling.
