The classic feel of the first chapter, with its vivid descriptions of the still-frozen North, had me gripped by the throat. How a seventy-year-old character named Signe captured me in that way is high praise to the author. I was at her side, returning to a home she left long ago. Seeing the differences now, feeling the effects of climate change in such a natural, breathing environment left me close to tears. And rage. Definite rage.

I was also right with David and Lou, the father and daughter in the alternating chapters. Searching for the other half of a family that was separated, again, by the cataclysmic effect of a changing climate.

This is top of my TBR pile, for sure.
