This book is beautiful.

First, the cover alone is gorgeous and I know that's such a small thing but I need to at least mention it.

Second, I am drawn to survival stories and this one is a survival story that is relevant as hell, in our troubled world right now. The futuristic dystopia that's described in brutal and beautiful detail is fully immersive from the beginning and its easy to imagine our world falling into such circumstances. The world is changing and I think that harnessing that fear into a novel is a brilliant idea.

Third, the story being split between a father and a daughter's timelines and personal perspectives is a beautiful choice. It allows us to see things as they develop, but it also allows us to see things from multiple points of view with multiple emotional investments. I loved this.

I cannot wait to read this book. This is going to be a good one.
