I went into this book hoping I was going to really enjoy it. Unfortunately, I ended up having an okay reading experience, meaning the book wasn't bad, but it wasn't particularly good or memorable either, in my personal opinion.

One positive were the Filipino touches throughout this story. The mythology was one of the things that drew me to reading this story in the first place. I found those bits to be intriguing, and I really enjoyed them.

One of the biggest negatives for me personally was the characters. I thought they needed more development overall. This in turn made it difficult for me to not only connect to them, but to feel something towards the romance in this book. Again it wasn't bad, it was just fine.

The plot was a bit trope-y and predictable; but that be because I read a lot of fantasy. Readers were are newer to this genre of books may not find it as predictable as I did.
