The opening preview here certainly has quite a bit of action. Our main character MJ is swept away from an ordinary day to find out her magical king father has died and she is now the heir to kingdom and she is swept away to the magical court. It quite annoyed me a bit that when the encanto first show up her school to take her away, she puts up a weak 'But what about my mother' but ultimately just goes right along. Another group catches up with them and a fight ensues. Just as they reach the portal to the kingdom, again, she just goes along and leaves her non-magical mother behind to fight off the enemy. Once they arrive at the court, she learns she will undergo courses in order to formally ascend to the throne, sort of a magical Princess Diaries. This one hasn't hooked me yet, so I will probably wait to see further reviews upon publication before deciding if i want to pick it up.
