Sometimes it's hard to understand what a character knows and doesn't know. For example, this protagonist appears to know that she's the heir to rule over Sirena Court, but thinks that a sirena is a mermaid when she first sees one. It's hard to imagine a conversation in which this child didn't ask what the word "Sirena" meant.
