I couldn't suspend my disbelief during this first look. I think it was the first person Point of View that just wasn't landing for me. I couldn't get into it and see past the choppy sounding writing. I feel like the novel would have benefited from being told in third person. I wouldn't read more to see what happens next, and the cover is pretty, but it isn't super unique or indicative of what will happen in the story besides the fact that it contains royalty.
