This book begins with a lot of action. MK is at school, it’s one of many schools she’s been to and it’s her first day. She is called to the office and strange things start happening. Lights start going out and classrooms appear empty. Then a group of magical beings show up, they inform MJ that her father (the king) is dead and she must go with them. She starts to run and is kidnapped by the bad guys. I feel like there’s a lot of story that will unfold. I also loved the maps at the beginning of the book.
