I am so excited to read more of the world of Encantos. This was such an action packed introduction. I was totally invested in the world, and how MJ is secretly half fairy, but I cannot connect with her character. The book reads younger than a YA, MJ comes across as a very casual character. Even though she knew about this world growing up on the run. I personally would have been traumatized by all the events that happened in the first chapter, I wouldn't be able to trust these fairies or this court so easily. I should care more about the character, and the world that I do. Hopefully the book will get better.
