The Electric Kingdom is not to be missed! David Arnold has written a brilliant post-apocalyptic novel that stands out among other novels in the genre. The characters were fun to hang out and travel through the story with. While reading, I reminded me of reading The Phantom Tollbooth for the first time as a kid, being marveled by the world unfolding before and the depth of it, and being compelled to keep turning pages!
I appreciated the characters driving the story and the emotional responses elicited by the writing. The sense of setting and story world are richly crafted, as well as the feeling of being alone in this post-apocalyptic world. This is a book that I will come back to and reread more than once.
Highly recommend this novel to fellow bookworms! It deserves five stars!
