Review:

I was unsure if I wanted to pick up The Electric Kingdom by David Arnold because of the topic of a deadly flu. It hit too close to home. However, when I read the sample of the novel given on the Bookishfirst website I knew that I wanted to read it.

I read Mosquitolandby David Arnold when it came out and enjoyed it. But I think The Electric Kingdom is my current new favorite from him. I loved his stunning writing and the way he crafted this new and deadly world was amazing to read! I'll be reading more from Arnold in the future.

My few of my favorite aspects of the novel were the well-done characters, the structure of the novel, and the plot. I was hooked by page 100, I loved the characters of Nico and Kit and enjoyed getting to see their points of view.

The reason this was 4 star read for me was a mix of the pacing (it took me a while to get into the novel) and the strangeness of this novel. I still do not know how I truly feel about the ending or the overall plot, it was a strange trip but still a good read.

I recommend checking out this intense and weird YA novel when it comes out in 2021.

Rating:

4 Out of 5 Stars.
