Having read the reviews for this book, I was excited to read it. I must admit that it took me awhile to get into and I almost quit. I found Kit and Nico’s stories interesting enough to keep reading but the chapters of The Deliverer I found confusing and annoying. I’m not really a fan of reading something that has no meaning until the end of the book and his/her story wasn’t intriguing enough to hold my interest. I found the flu/fly story line to be timely enough although I really wanted to read more about its connection to the decimation of bee colonies. I was waiting for the conservation piece, I suppose, which never really came. I think the flu/fly story line got lost somewhat towards the end when the real point of the three storylines emerged, and The Deliverer was revealed. The ending was hopeful and maybe more of a light at the end of the tunnel for our times but I was left wondering if the characters I came to know and love were the only ones left and that also left me feeling a little melancholy
