I am so...SO excited for David Arnold's new book. What a way to open a story: a baby is born in a car because of a traffic jam. The other 3 sections introduce the main characters, and they're all fascinating. The Deliverer in particular is super mysterious and interesting...

Probably the most surefire way to make me care for a character is to have a scene where they're a child with their parent reading a book, and that's exactly what this book did with Nico. The moment was just so lovely and warm and well-written, becoming bittersweet when we return to the present. It hit me personally, her wishing the afterlife was her back in that moment with her father.

The cover is so eye-catching. Also Melissa Albert blurbing it?? Everything about "The Electric Kingdom" has me hyped.
