It could just be me, but I can't seem to understand what's happening in this book at all. Take, for example, the sign that is altered in the introduction to the book. What does the sign say? Who was the person that changed it? Why was she looking at that person when she did it? What did any of that mean? No answers provided; the story just moves along.
