My daughter and I listened to another Diane Chamberlain book on a long girl’s road trip this spring. That was an excellent choice to make the miles go quickly and this new book was also an excellent use of time.

The story begins in 1965 with a young woman meeting a rather mysterious man who seemingly by serendipity becomes a member of her family. Forward five years later finds the young woman widowed by the Vietnam War and facing the news that her late husband’s child that she is carrying has a heart defect that is hopeless. That devasting diagnosis puts her on a track to putting her hopes in the hands of the one time stranger.

Domestic drama is in capable hands with this author and I have now enjoyed reading two of her books.
