What if time travel were possible? Where would you go and why? Would you be able to resist changing lives? Would you want to go back to where you came from? And what about the people you leave behind (or ahead) of you? Diane Chamberlain's characters take you forward and back in their journeys and will break your heart as they must let go of one time for another and risk all, in the end, ultimately...for love. Hunter remains in the past, years before his own birth, when he falls in love in 1970. As fate, or time travel, may have it, he will then be able to send his widowed sister-in-law, Carly, forward in time for life saving surgery for her unborn daughter. Carly's arrival in 2001 is frightening and overwhelming, but after losing her husband in the Vietnam War, she is even more determined to give her child, the child her husband didn't even know about, a life of her own. There are twists and surprises that follow that no-one anticipates and the results are bittersweet. This is a fantastic tale, rich with emotion and you will be hard pressed not to read it through to the very end in one sitting!
