It begins with Caroline on her first day as a physical therapist in the hospital ward. A recent accident victim has been brought in with a broken ankle. He won't speak to anyone and refuses to do any therapy. They think he tried to commit suicide. As soon as he see's Caroline he calls out to her and asks that she do his therapy. She doesn't understand why he has chosen her. He explains that she reminds him of some one he once knew.
