The excerpt is the Prologue. The description of the book is what pulled me in and then reading the prologue deepened my desire to read this book. I am captured by underlying theme - a mother making hard choices to save her unborn child - but truly intrigued by the introduction of these two main characters. So much is revealed in the first few paragraphs I'm literally panting to read more.
