This book was good but it just wasn't for me. While it does follow a plot and tell details of the relationships the main character has with each of her dinner guests, it focuses way more on the introspective "what did it all mean" analysis of the relationships rather than the actual plot.

I found the characters to be fascinating and complicated but stubborn: trying to dig down into their relationships took forever. They were tight-lipped and hesitant which was fine for the first half but I wanted it to become less of a challenge towards the end.

The book was well-written though and there are definitely people who would enjoy the challenge of breaking the characters open and seeing their lives.
