I devoured The Dinner List in less than 48 hours. I was intrigued by the premise -- who are the 5 people, living or dead, you'd invite to a dinner party? -- but I didn't anticipate just how emotional I would be about Sabrina's 5.

The story flashes back and forth between the dinner and Sabrina's earlier life in LA and NY, shining a light on the ups and downs of relationships and the pitfalls of things going unsaid.

The central story focuses on Sabrina and Tobias' relationship, but it's her friendship with Jessica that stood out for me. For once, a best friend isn't there just to facilitate or cheerlead, Jessica is there to tell it like it is. It's completely refreshing.

The Dinner List is beautiful, heartbreaking, unexpected and illuminating. Worth a spot on your TBR. When you get to it, make sure you have tissues.
