This romance alternates back and forth between a present day birthday dinner for our main character, Sabrina, and the past history of her relationship with Tobias. What makes the birthday dinner so interesting is the guest list - If you've ever answered the question, "Who, dead or alive, would you most like to have dinner with?" this is the book for you. In addition to Tobias, Sabrina's birthday guest list includes her best friend, Jessica; a professor from her college days; her estranged father; and Audrey Hepburn.

Over dinner and dessert, the reader learns about Sabrina's relationships (or lack thereof) with the people seated at the table around her. The flashback scenes take you through the course of her relationship with Tobias, from meeting at an art exhibit in college in California, to reuniting on the subway in New York, to the circumstances that bring them to the dinner today, and what happens after tonight.

The premise of this book is so interesting, but I found the love story to be a little too angsty for my taste. I was a little annoyed by Sabrina's relationship with Tobias. I was more interested in the present-day scenes with the interactions between the people Sabrina found significant to her life for one reason or another. 3-star read for me, but definitely would recommend for others who enjoy this genre!
