What would you do if suddenly you were having dinner with the five people, dead or alive, you'd want most to have dinner with?
"I open my menu. 'Why don't we order," I say. And we do." Sabrina does what any logical person would do and sits. Over these several courses, the reader learns more about each individual, what they mean to her, and why they are on her list. Flinging the reader from one emotion to the next on this adventure that just shows how beautiful and tragic love can be.
Perhaps I was simply judging a book by its cover or I have an intuition about these things, but I simply knew that I would like this book. I really fell in love with the way the novel was written. It has such structure that I never felt lost or confused, but I was always engaged. This is very much a book that can be turned into a movie. The series of flashbacks and explanations of the past lend themselves to the medium.
What was unique to me for this story was that I did not always root for who I thought I would root for. I thought I would hate this character and praise another, but this book did a splendid job of adding dimensions to everyone so as to give them complexity of character. It made the read much more interesting.
While there was no one thing that blew this book out of the water for me I did enjoy myself well enough. I simply cannot complain when I have a strong, well-written story before me.
