I am absolutely enthralled by these first two chapters. The attention to detail gives the reader enough to understand who these people are but not why they are.
The Remembrance is performed each year by the one person who is tasked with remembering the history of the wajinru; a history so horrific, it tortures the historian, Yetu and sends her into periods of unawareness. Yetu holds close to her gifts that she receives from Nnenyo, her caremaid during the Remembrance. Knowing that this years gift, a comb from a foremother, sends Yeti deep into a memory of the past. She realizes how long she’s been out this time and it is nearly time to begin. That is really the last thing she wants. She does not want to be the harbinger of grief and pain anymore.
I would absolutely love a chance at reading and reviewing this entire novel. The premise is untold and I have so many questions that I need answers to!!
