This is such a neat story, but I was confused right away. If I hadn't read the given synopsis, I would have had NO IDEA what was going on. There's no introduction to the setting or physical descriptions of the characters to picture what they are at all. I had to go back and reread sections to see if I missed something. In the first paragraphs I couldn't figure out if they were underwater or in a lake or what...
The style of writing is fine! It was easy and quick to read. I felt what the author wanted me to feel about the characters. It would be more enjoyable except I was having to work to piece together what everything was.
I like the main character so far. As an introvert, I can relate to her intense desire for silence, even if I don't feel physical pain at sounds like she does. It took me all the way til the end of the sneak-peek to realize that sound is such a big deal because they're in deep underwater.
It's such a cool plot. I hope either the storyline gets more clear and easy to follow as it goes on, or honestly, for a rewrite.
