The only complaint I have about this novel is that it was too short. This is in a good thing because I wish there was more of the amazing Hauntingly beautiful imagery of the depths of the ocean and the mermaids. Perfect read for fantasy fans that want a more creative story about mermaids. Looking forward to reading more stories by this author. A community of African mermaids that have one historian that bears the painful stories of the past. The way the community came together to remember and identifying with their past. Very strong and resilient women in this novel. Empowering women. It also is about how the young historian grapples with her identity. Original plot and characters that keep your eyes glued to the page until the very last page. Please read this wonderful novel and enjoy a refreshing new perspective on mermaids and fantasy.
