I was a bit confused by the beginning, I think we are thrown very abruptly inside this fantasy aquatic world with little to no context. However, the story seems interesting and I would love to continue reading it to find out more about the wanjiru and Yetu. I loved the fact that she can experience her ancestors' memories and how that leaves her confused and not very present in the... well, present moment.
I find it very interesting how the historian has to remember everything so that their people can live better lives, or at least spontaneous and regretless but I wish I knew why this is even necessary at all. Nonetheless, I am certain everything is answered later in the book. A very exciting and unique book indeed!
