this books starts off with a very heavy theme that immediately had be interested. When pregnant African slave women are thrown overboard the babies turn into water-dwelling mermaids who have a story to tell. The premise including the background, setting and characters definitely pulled me in and it kept me wanting to read the story. Overall I think this book could have used a bigger platform than the novella format. I feel there was way more to this story than what was contained here. It was very gut-wrenching theme and I wanted it have a little more structure. Overall I enjoyed it and found it a very thought-provoking book. I really look forward to reading more from this author and hope to find more like it.
