I loved how we were dropped right into Yetu's life in The Deep. She has experienced a tough situation and my heart totally bled for her. I can't imagine what its like the hold all the memories of a people... and yet we get a taste of that with Yetu. Her culture is one built around remembering and forgetting and its fascinating. I can't wait to read more about the womb and see if she survives...

But this fascinating culture and situation isn't all that The Deep has in store for us... there is also this fabulously dark mother daughter relationship. Where they strum against one another... but only one of them remembers these moments and holds on to them. What does that do to a person?!

The Deep is shaping up to be a stellar read that gives us a ton to think about...
