With all the books I have read over the years, I don't recall ever reading a work of fiction where a group of mythical mermaids are the main characters (not including H. C. Anderson's The Little Mermaid that I read to my children).
But I do have to admit that the first two chapters of this book really grabbed me. I look forward to reading the rest!
