I don’t usually like to read fantasy novels although, I guess, in some ways all novels contain a bit of fantasy. This story centers around a colony of human-like creatures descended from two legged land dwellers who now live under the ocean. Most of them are blessed with short memories that allow them to be free of the burden of who they are and where they come from. Only, one, the historian is chosen to keep the memories of their ancestors and to allow every other member of the race to see those memories once a year. Each historian is chosen by the one past. It appears that the latest historian, Yetu, is not really fit for the job as the burden of memories threatens her sensitivities and perhaps her life. I am intrigued by Yetu and eager to know whether or not she can move forward if she can only get through her next Remembrance
