As a person deeply interested in ancestry and stories revolving around long dead relatives, I found this premise extremely interesting and timely. Mer-women as descendant. of pregnant slave women thrown overboard and surviving. Part of that surviving is not to remember all of the horrible actions and times they have been through. One woman is assigned all of the memories of the underwater community. A burden that ways heavily on the main character.i What a wonderful and haunting narrative this sounds. I would truly love to read this book. It is resonating with me so strongly.
