I was really looking forward to reading The Davenports and I was not disappointed. First, the cover drew me in and I do love historical fiction. The characters were all likeable and relatable. I enjoyed the fact that the book show you African American women back in 1910 standing up for themselves and followed their dreams. I liked the character all got along , that there was not any sibling rivilary or friend riviilary. It was fun to see how the girls handle their love lives and even though their parents wanted one thing they stuck to what they felt was right for themselves. I loved that Helen was into cars and followed what she wanted to do even if she had to sneak around to do it. This book was an easy enjoyable read with several strong women. If you like historical fiction I think you would enjoy this book. I would definitely read more books by this author.
