I love historical fiction and I don't think this book will disappoint. We know too little of the black history that has shaped our current country. The fictional Davenports will fill in some of the missing pieces and contributions that African Americans made to our country. The difference between the two sisters helps tell of a time when women should know their place but wanted to contribute to society as well. I can't wait to see what happens to the gorls, as well as their brother John. This is a very engrossing read.
