I really enjoyed this sneak peek. Being a history nerd I absolutely loved the fact that this is based on the true story of Fredrick Patterson who founded one of the most successful automotive manufacturing companies of the era. Particularly because the founder was black and hugely successful. Coming off of the slavery era he escaped enslavement and became of of the most successful black entrepreneurs of his time. I love this play on his story with the focus on the Davenport family one of the most prominent and successful in all of Chicago. Olivia and Helen grew up in the shadow of their very successful parents who now are launching themselves in society. Olivia longs to find love but Helen seems to want different things. I would love to read more of their story.
